Placard

There were placards everywhere,
Thrown to the ground, stomped and ruined.
Hands raised them in the air to pronounce the presence
But in vain, they too were stomped and ruined.

Freedom is not every body’s cup of tea
It comes with new sets of policies.
yes, I am single
not interested in marriage
ho!!! You are a danger to society.

But why?
Society does not know what to do with people like you.
You are in rebel against nature itself.
Your fate is similar to the placard

Ones raised and later stamped.

Identity

You are my enemy.
You are the sticky tag stuck to me
The world desire my brood to be unlike me
They say, “Be like this, be like that.”
And preferably “be like anybody else” accept you, Identity.

We abuse and even wipe out clans in your name.
We wrestle time and targets to achieve you.
In the making of you, Identity
we forfeit the seldom found happiness.
“All the world is a stage”
and you, Identity occupy the center instead of me.

A name deprived of clan
A gender not beleaguered
An appearance not judged
A sexuality, which is my right.

Exceptional, exceptionally ME.
