CHILD SOLDIERS OR CANNON FODDERS

In a world where we pompously converse about global- economic boom, socio-political upgrade and democracy, there are third world countries which suffer significantly of war and displacements. Among these countries, the greatest fatalities of war are women and implausibly children. Children below the age of 8 years are recruited, many are brainwashed, trained, given drugs and then sent into battle with orders to kill. When we buy our children comfort at home, there are children in countries like Somalia, Sri Lanka and Myanmar who are abducted and trained to kill. They are kidnapped from their homes, schools and neighborhood, sold as slaves, bid for prostitution, and trained to be soldiers. At a tender age when they look up to people for love and support they are baptized in the water of hatred and animal instinct to kill is implanted. Animals too kill, but to feed. But we human beings the so called warlords kill for sport and power. There are almost 300,000 children sold as soldiers for war. Girls and boys are sexually abused, used as cannon fodders and spies. They are brain washed to murder their own parents and friends.  Being eyewitness to several murders and having done many of it by themselves they become frighteningly cold and effective. 20 years, after UNO, UNICEF and human rights have addressed the issue they see visible change in this matter. Now child soldier recruitment and training is considered a war crime.

There were days I sat still
thinking it would pass.
like a melancholy it stayed.
I searched for light in my path,
dismayed i returned to where i was.
Hopeless and lifeless.

Inspire me..

i have lost touch
of who i am and who i was.
its been a while that i sang,
or heard music.
Parched and tired,
and fighting all the time.
oh! my humming bird
have u lost the way to my paradise.
Inspire me. Or i wouldn't bloom.
